Raining in Seattle - This is News?
I extend my sympathies to my pals in Seattle, who have endured 26 straight days of rain. 33 days is the record, set back in 1953.
What better way to alleviate depression on a rainy day than to curl up in front of a nice warm computer monitor and read some great stories? The 2005 preliminary ballot for the Nebula Awards has been posted by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and includes links to many of the nominated stories and novels. Here's the link.

The Nebula award convention looks like something you would enjoy; you ought to go, being it is so close! It could be inspiring enough to get you back to work, and possibly put you on the list of Nebula Award short stories for 07 or 08!
I haven’t read any of the books nominated, and only one of the nominees (KSR); I almost bought, Forty Signs of Rain, by KSR, but didn’t. Which novel, in your opinion, would be best to read?
I've only read the KSR novel. Of the others, my guess is you'd like the McDevitt, Haldeman, and Metzger, and maybe the Mieville and Bujold.
