About Me
- Name: Mike King
- Location: Long Beach, California
Happily married, an aerospace engineer, a SoCal native, a writer too lazy to really write; one computer science degree, two and a half cats, three pairs of Chuck Taylors, four stringed instruments, zero gods; a love of books, bicycle riding, music, hiking, astronomy, movies, my neighborhood, and the good friends that reside therein.

Camaxtli, Leonidas, Alexander, Scipio, Achilles, Hector, Aries, and Thor would all agree with Mr. Fahrenbach.
Here we have two, interestingly, juxtaposed points of view reiterating the long known and well worn cliché: Men are from Mars, and Women are from Venus.
If one wishes to further explore the necessity of war versus pacifism, in modern context, it is well expressed in, William Manchester’s, excellent WW II autobiography: “Goodbye Darkness.”
One must be careful not assume that the difference of opinion here, between these two writers, represents a universal philosophical difference between men and women; there are still many more “Spartan” mothers, than “Pacifist”, in the world today, as there have been for the past 4,000 years.
My opinion: Well put, Mr. Fahrenbach.
Well put yourself, rex. I didn't consciously think about whether one opinion or the other was by a man or a woman. Frankly, I was just out there looking for two differing viewpoints that happened to be well written.
Fahrenbach's statements are compelling and I happen to agree with him, but let's face it, there are also a lot of stupid kids (I mean "men") out there who enlist for the wrong reasons, and who shoulda listened to their momma.
But hey, what do I know? In my line of work, it's more like, "Return home with your pocket protector, or on it."
